Educational:
 - to give information about the unique Wonders of the World
 - to enlarge the students’ outlook 
 - to use inter-subject connections in teaching English language 
Developing:
- to improve the students’ skills and habits in speaking, listening,  writing and reading  
 - to develop the students, cognitive and creative skills
 - to develop students’ skills of analyzing and making conclusions 
Upbringing:
- to bring up personal qualities of the students, for example, confidence in answering, ability of defending own point of view 
 - to stimulate the students’ interest in English language

  The stages of the lesson:
I. Organization moment. 
Teacher: Good day, students.
Students: Good day, teacher.
Teacher: Take your seats, please. I’m glad to see you today. How are you?
Students: We are fine, thanks. And you?
Teacher: I’m OK too. Thank you. Today our task is to get acquainted with some unique masterpieces of the world using multimedia technologies. So, let's start.
II. Brainstorm.
Teacher: There are many magnificent places on the Earth with origins that sometimes can't be explained. The more we look around us, the more wonders we see in the world.
 
XIV. Giving some information about historical wonders ( History teacher).
 
IV. Acquaintance with the new theme (Teacher shows the location of each wonder of the modern world, using interactive geographical map accomplished in MS Power Point).
V. Matching exercise. 
Teacher: Match the names of the seven wonders of the Ancient World.

Teacher: Listen to the text “The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World “ and say which of the statements below are true, false or not mentioned in the text.
1. The wonders of the ancient world were created to attract tourists from Ancient Greece.
2. It was a must for people from the Middle Ages to see the Seven Wonders. 
3. The list which contains the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World was made in Ancient Greece.
4. Nowadays people can see only one wonder of those seven.
5. The archaeologists are not quite sure that the Hanging Gardens really existed.
6. The Mausoleum of Maussollos was about 140 feet high.
7. The English word mausoleum originated from the first name of a king.

Teacher: Open your books at page 161, ex.43. Read the text and change the words in brackets or form new words on their basis to make the text grammatically and logically correct.
The Lighthouse of Alexandria

IX. Reading the authentic text about auroras. Quiz.
Teacher: Now students we are to read the interesting text about auroras. Do you know what aurora is? It is a beautiful, dynamic display of shifting colored lights. We'll read and translate a small passage about the physical explanation, locations and peculiarities of this natural phenomenon. After that we'll do a quiz with the help of the interactive board.

X. Multimedia presentations about other natural wonders.
Teacher: As homework I gave you creative tasks. According to the scheme you are supposed to tell us about the location, uniqueness, wildlife, area, origin and protection of natural wonder. Try to be short. After multimedia presentations we’ll discuss your reports.
XI. Conclusion.
Teacher: Thank you very much for this interesting lesson. Today we've learned about magnificent wonders of the world. Also you've worked a lot with multimedia technologies including interactive board. You've done various assignments which, I hope, will enlarge your scope, vocabulary, develop your practical and grammar skills. So, enjoy and take care of our wonders, get surprised at the beauty of our world. Remember the following saying: «Those who dwell among the beauties and mysteries of the Earth are never alone or weary of life».
