The theme of the lesson: Seasons

The aims of the lesson: 1. to develop pupil’s reading and speaking habits.
                                      2. to enlarge pupil’s knowledge about seasons.
Visual aids: pictures, crossword.
The procedure of the lesson.
1. Organization moment.
- Who is on duty today?
- Who is absent?
- What is the date today?
- What date is it today?
- What was the home task?
Teacher: How are you? And you? Are you all right? Do you like today’s weather? 
                                      Why? And tell me please, how many seasons do you 
know? What is your favourite season/ why?
The theme of the lesson “Seasons”. Now, everybody look at the blackboard. There are 4 seasons in a year. They are: spring, summer, autumn, winter.
1. It is spring now. March, April and May are spring months. It is cool or warm in spring. The weather is fine. You can see flowers in the fields.
2. It is summer. June, July, August are summer months. It is hot in summer. The weather is fine. The days are long and the nights are short. The fields and trees are green. There are many flowers in the fields.
3. It is autumn. September, October, November are autumn months. It is cool in autumn. The weather is bad. It usually rains in autumn. The trees are yellow and red. You can see apples on the apple trees.
4. It is winter. December, January and February are winter months. The weather is cold in winter. It snows in winter. The days  are  short and nights are long. The streets, the trees and the fields are white with snow.
Teacher: Now answer my questions:
Consolidation of the new material:
1. How many seasons has a year?
2. What are they?
3. Are March, April, May spring months?
4. What is the weather like in spring?
5. What can you see in the fields in spring?
Teacher: now open your vocabulary notebooks and write down vocabulary. 
• season [si:zn] – маусым 
• spring [ spriŋ]– көктем
• summer [ sʌmə] – жаз 
• autumn [ͻ:təm] – күз 
• winter [wintə] – қыс 
Now, open your books, lets read the text. “The Seasons” at page 190.
Reading practice.
Unknown texts:
“What is winter?”
One day Radj, an Indian boy of four,comes up to his father and asks,”Father, what is winter?”
Winter….Winter.It is winter when everything is white with snow :the trees,the houses,the streets and the gardens .In winter ice covers the rivers and-‘’Here Radj stops his father and says,’And what is snow? And what is ice? Radj’s father does not know how to answer.
Snow is white and cold.Ice is white-blue and cold too’’. But Radj again stops him and asks,Father,but what is cold?  I don’t know what cold is.
Again Radj’s father does not know how to answer. He  says’’Cold is cold’’.Radj’s father cannot explain to his little son what winter is, because it is never cold in India. It is usually hot there. And in winter it is very warm.
 
“Why Hares are white in winter?”
Ann and Lena are little girls. Ann is four. Lena is five.
Ann: I say,Lena! Do you know why hares are white in winter?
Lena:Yes,I do.Hares are white in winter because they eat snow.
 
“They like winter”
Pete and Steve are brothers.They are little children.Pete is 6 and Steve is 4. Pete and Steve like winter.Everyday Pete and Steve take their sled and go out into their yard. Jack goes with them ,too. Jack  is a big black dog.He is the boys’ good friend, and he likes to play with them .In the yard Pete and Steve tie the dog to their sled. Then Pete or Steve sits down on the sled and says”Jack, pull the sled! Pull,Jack!’’
Jack runs and pulls the sled.The children are very happy.
 
Now, children lets guess the riddles.
A little old woman with 12 children, some short, some long, some hot. What is it? (a year) 
     What is it?
I come with cold and snow, 
But you like me and know. (winter)
What man cannot live inside the house? (a snowman)
       It’s winter.
It’s winter, it’s winter,
Let us skate and ski!
It’s winter, it’s winter,
It’s great fun for ….! (me)
Now, children, let’s solve the crossword.
 
1. Қар
2. Ауа
3. Жаңбыр
4. Қысқа
5. Суық
6. Түн
Conclusion:  
1) Giving  home task.
a) to draw your favourite season
b) to write about your favourite season.
2) Giving  marks.
